Jellyfish on Century Avenue

“Jellyfish on Century Avenue” came out of a location-specific assignment. Professor Hagan asked each team to choose a location, then design an installation that is specific to that location. We were asked not to incorporate any technology (no arduinos, no processing, no machines, etc) into the installation. My team decided to enhance the natural beauty of our location. My team members were Ferwa Razzaq, Guillermo Carrasquero, and Jia Rong.

Getting Out of Bed

Getting Out of a bed was a 100-item installation that Professor Hagan gave the class one week to complete. We could choose any item, as long as we used 100 of it. I chose to make a maze out of straight pins to symbolize the difficulties people with invisible illnesses face. The pins are only visible when a person gets close to the installation and the simple task– sitting in the chair– is difficult.
